Global equity ETFs: World, All-World and coverage
Understand developed and emerging markets, company-size coverage, concentration and currency risks before researching a global equity ETF.

The short answer
A global equity ETF follows a defined investment universe. Some cover developed markets only; others add emerging markets. “Global” does not establish equal country weights, small-cap exposure or low risk.
Four checks before comparing funds
| Check | What to understand |
|---|---|
| Markets | Read the benchmark rules. MSCI World is developed-market exposure; FTSE All-World includes developed and emerging markets. |
| Company sizes | Large and mid-cap exposure is different from all-cap exposure. Check small-cap inclusion explicitly. |
| Concentration | Market-value weights can leave a broad fund concentrated in large companies, countries or sectors. |
| Currency | The trading currency is the currency of a listing. It does not remove underlying currency risk or establish that a share class is hedged. |
Research the exact share class
